SDR stands for Software Defined Radio. Bithium has developed an embedded GNU radio based SDR wireless audio solution for surround systems using the Opus codec. It uses the 863 - 865MHz band.

The devised approach is software configurable to allow other services to run in parallel. Embedded versions of the solution are possible by using a generic high-speed microcontroller and low-cost FPGA. This has also been demonstrated in the Amalia-Sophie project.

GNU Radio is a free software development toolkit that provides the signal processing runtime and processing blocks to implement software radios using readily-available, low-cost external RF hardware. Leveraging our know-how in wireless communications, embedded system design and embedded Linux we bring you SDR GNU radio integration in embedded designs for your next advanced communication system project.
